This year, New Community Academy celebrates five years of success. It seems only fitting then that we graduated five successful students into the world this week, our largest graduating class ever! We are so proud of these seniors and the hard work they have put in to get to where they are today. Each one of them has a bright future ahead!
Our graduation ceremony took place on Tuesday evening at Purpose Church Pomona. It was such a special event, and the room was filled with supportive friends, family, teachers, and pastors.
Executive Director Kimberly Gunderson welcomed the crowd and introduced the graduates. Family and friends enjoyed a slide show highlighting memories of each senior. The graduates then shared their moving speeches and thanked those who have played important roles in their lives. Pastor Randy Gardner gave a passionate speech challenging the students to make a difference in the world. Then the graduates received their diplomas! High School Pastor Eric Holmstrom invited the families of each graduate to join them on stage and prayed over them. After the families returned to their seats, Kimberly announced the 2017 graduating class and invited them to move their tassels to the other side of their hats. Pastor Gregg Svalstad, a pastor at Purpose Church and also a father to one of our graduates, gave a closing prayer.
It was a wonderful night of celebration! We are so thankful to be celebrating our fifth graduating class at New Community Academy. May God bless each of you as you venture out into the world!
